£12 (glossopmoot* co-operative members)/£18  – plus cost of materials (estimated at £2 – £3)

In a small group  (8 maximum), learn how to paint on silk using the ‘gutta’ technique of drawing a design. The image is then painted with iron fixed paints. Bring along your own ideas, or use designs provided by the tutor. Take home your own hand made card in glowing colours.  All materials are provided. The technique can be adapted for painting silk scarves, suncatchers, or pictures, and the workshop is fine for complete beginners.

The workshop will show you how to mount your design into a card like these.

A beautiful heart design, painted by tutor Maggie Preston.

Polymer clay workshop on Saturday 22 January. NOW FULL

Amanda Shackleton and Barbara Helm are leading the workshop – you may have seen some of their designs on the moot* stall at the local produce market. Amanda writes:

“I’ve been playing with polymer clay for the last year and have become passionate about the creative possibilities it offers. In this session you will be able to familiarise yourself with basic clay techniques and tools. You’ll have the opportunity to make and take away swirly beads and use extrusions to make shapes and buttons as well as plenty of time to play with the clay. I’ll be bringing some clay canes along which you can use to make flower beads. Barbara (LittleBarb – who makes fantastic button jewellery) will be bringing along and showing some of the techniques she is using in her own work. With books and examples of finished work available, this session should give particiapnts a feel for how to work with polymer clay and a sense of the versatility and mixed media potential of this medium.”

The workshop is on Saturday 22, 10 – 1pm at Glossop Labour Club and costs £12 for members of the co-operative and £18 for non-members. We have just a couple of places left, please  email to reserve a place.
