Moot* 1

September 30, 2010

We had our first Moot get together on Tuesday 28th Sept, in the back room of the Oakwood pub, on Glossop High Street. Its a lovely room, with a nice real coal fire and big comfy sofas, more like someone’s very large parlour than a pub. The staff are very easygoing and welcoming so its a very comfortable place to walk into, even if you aren’t used to going in pubs on your own. You can also get a nice cup of tea or coffee, as well as the usual beer and wine etc. Unfortunately a bug had laid low quite a few people, but nevertheless we had a great session and the time zoomed by. Michelle and Nikki brought knitting, and worked on a winter hat, and a cowl, both on circular needles. Anne came along with her portable weaving sticks, and a selection of lovely bags that she has made using this system. Maggie brought silk painting stuff, but in the end but stuck to knitting a new winter woolly. We mostly had the room to ourselves apart from half an hour when the lads from the Wizard’s Society assembled, before retiring to the upstairs room to carry on with their magic. We hope you’ll be able to join us at the next Moot get together on Tuesday 26th October, same place, at 7.30. Bring anything fabricy or fibery that you are working on, or just come along if you want to discuss anything you would like to work on, or if you would like some help in learning to  knit.

It sounds like a lovely creative session – I was really sad I couldn’t get down there on Tuesday 😦 (but best not to be sharing germs along with textile skills! )

Anyhow looking forward to crackling fires with wizards for next month on 26th !
